The plan

Launch a lawn care business that rings from day one.

You don't need a fleet or a 20-page marketing plan. You need three things. I call it the winning trifecta. The video is 8 minutes, the checklist is below it.

I've laid out the exact steps so you can build this yourself. If you'd rather be on the mower than behind a screen, I'll set the whole thing up for you: the site, the Google profile, the lead engine. Start here.

  1. Your digital real estate

Don't overcomplicate it. You need a one-page website, and it's not a vanity project, it's a conversion machine. The most important thing on it is a floating "Call Now" button in the top right. On a phone that's the most valuable real estate on the planet. It turns browsers into leads on the spot.

  2. The Google map pack

If you aren't on Google Maps, you don't exist. Set up a Google Business Profile. It's free. If you have a few dollars spare, run Google Ads for as little as $3 a day. That puts you at the top of the results while your free ranking builds up.

  3. The "secret" lead trick

Most people wait for the phone to ring. Instead, find the next guys down on Google Maps, the ones who are busy but not number one. Call them and offer to buy the leads they can't get to. They make money for doing nothing, and you get customers without spending a cent on advertising.

The flying start checklist

Phase 1: the foundation

  • Build a one-page website with a floating "Call Now" button top right, a "Message us" button, a service list, a photo gallery and a map of your service area.
  • Claim your Google Business Profile. Verify your address and upload good photos of your work.
  • Optional: set up a Google "Smart Campaign" ad at $3 a day.

Phase 2: the cash flow move

  • Search "lawn mowing [your city]" on Google Maps and pick 3 to 5 local businesses below the top spot.
  • Call them: "Have you got any spare leads you can't get to? I'll buy them off you."
  • Get the lead's name, address and phone number, and make sure the other guy tells them you'll be calling.
  • The golden rule: call the lead within one hour of getting the details.

Phase 3: the review engine

  • In your Google Business Profile, copy your "Ask for review" link.
  • Set an alarm for 7pm every Monday. Text last week's customers: "Hi, thanks for being a [Your Business] customer. Hope you're happy with the lawn. If you have a second, could you leave us a quick review here? [Link]"
